Wharfedale Super Linton Heritage Standmount Bookshelf Speakers Pair (Excluding Stands) - Mahogany

The Wharfedale Super Linton Heritage speakers mark a genuine step forward in the Heritage series, not just a cosmetic update. While they share the familiar Linton DNA, almost every element of the design has been reworked to deliver greater scale, control and realism across the frequency range.

Enlarged Cabinet with Advanced Sandwich Construction

The most obvious change is the larger cabinet, which is slightly taller than the original Linton while retaining the same footprint. This increased internal volume plays a crucial role in improving bass depth and authority. Wharfedale also employs its proprietary sandwich cabinet construction, using two layers of MDF bonded with a resonance-damping adhesive layer. This dramatically reduces panel vibration, keeping unwanted colouration to a minimum and allowing the drivers to perform more cleanly.

Improved Bass Driver with More Powerful Motor System

Bass performance has been significantly upgraded thanks to a newly developed low-frequency driver. The revised woofer uses a stronger motor system, improving cone control and extending low-end response down to an impressive 32Hz. The result is bass that is not just deeper, but also more dynamic and better integrated — delivering real weight without sounding slow or bloated.

Dedicated Midrange Chamber for Natural Vocals

Unlike many modern standmount speakers where the midrange shares space with the bass unit, the Super Linton features a revised, isolated midrange chamber. This chamber is densely damped with long-hair fibre to absorb rear energy from the driver, reducing internal reflections and mid-band distortion. Vocals and acoustic instruments sound more open, present and natural as a result.

New High-Frequency Unit for Cleaner, Smoother Treble

Treble duties are handled by an all-new soft dome tweeter derived from Wharfedale’s flagship Dovedale loudspeakers. The lightweight fabric dome is coated with a special damping material and driven by a ceramic magnet motor system. A revised short horn profile allows the tweeter to operate smoothly into the upper midrange, while the newly designed front plate improves dispersion for a wider, more even soundstage with crisp detail and minimal harshness.

Completely Redesigned Split-PCB Crossover

Internal electronics have received just as much attention as the cabinet and drivers. The Super Linton uses a new split-PCB crossover design, physically separating the bass network from the mid and treble circuits. This reduces electromagnetic interference between components, preserving low-level detail and improving overall clarity. Custom-spec components are used throughout for tonal neutrality, along with PE dielectric wiring and LCOFC cabling for consistent signal purity.

Efficient and Amplifier-Friendly Design

Despite its size and performance capability, the Super Linton remains easy to drive. With a sensitivity rating of 90dB, it works happily with a wide range of amplifiers, including lower-powered valve and solid-state designs. This flexibility makes it an excellent choice for both classic hi-fi systems and modern streaming-based setups.

Heritage Styling with Real Wood Veneers

True to Wharfedale tradition, the Super Linton combines old-school proportions with high-quality craftsmanship. The cabinets are finished in genuine real wood veneers — Black Oak, Walnut or Mahogany — complemented by a refined grille fabric. While visually substantial, the design blends comfortably into living spaces and pairs perfectly with the matching Linton stands, which also provide LP storage.

Designed to Fit Existing Linton Stands

Although taller than the standard Linton, the Super Linton has been deliberately designed to use the same Linton speaker stands. This ensures correct listening height and positioning while retaining the practical and much-loved vinyl storage beneath — a key part of the Heritage appeal.
