Wharfedale Linton Heritage Standmount Bookshelf Speakers Pair (Excluding Stands) - Walnut

The Wharfedale Linton Heritage speakers are a rare example of a classic hi-fi design done properly for modern listening. Awarded a 5-Star ‘What Hi-Fi?’ review and described as “the best of old hi-fi combined with the best of the new”, the Linton brings together vintage proportions, genuine craftsmanship and cutting-edge acoustic engineering.

A true three-way standmount design

Unlike most modern bookshelf speakers, the Linton uses a genuine three-way configuration – something seldom seen in today’s compact loudspeakers. This allows each frequency range to be handled by a dedicated driver, resulting in greater clarity, separation and realism.

A large 200mm Kevlar bass driver delivers deep, controlled low frequencies with real weight and authority. Above it, a 135mm Kevlar midrange driver, housed in its own internal enclosure, focuses entirely on vocals and instruments, giving the Linton its natural, open midband. High frequencies are handled by a 25mm fabric dome tweeter, chosen for its smooth, detailed and non-fatiguing treble response.

The result is a sound that feels expansive and layered, with excellent balance from top to bottom.

Vintage warmth, modern engineering

The original Linton speakers of the 1960s and 70s were loved for their warm, easy-going presentation. The current Linton retains that musical character but benefits from decades of acoustic research. Modern materials, improved motor systems and carefully optimised crossovers bring dramatically improved detail, dynamics and tonal accuracy.

Bass is deep yet controlled, mids are clear and expressive, and the soundstage feels wide and involving — ideal for everything from vinyl listening to high-resolution digital sources.

Efficient and easy to drive

With a 90dB sensitivity rating, the Wharfedale Linton speakers are highly efficient and surprisingly easy to power. They perform confidently with amplifiers from as little as 25 watts, yet scale beautifully with more powerful systems up to 200 watts. This makes them an excellent match for both classic integrated amps and modern hi-fi separates.

Classic proportions, beautifully finished

The Linton’s wider and taller cabinet follows traditional standmount proportions, allowing for larger drivers and a more effortless sound. Despite the “big box” design, the speakers don’t feel overbearing thanks to their luxurious real wood veneers and understated styling.

Available in Walnut, Mahogany or Black Oak, each pair features hand-matched veneers and a level of finish that feels premium rather than retro novelty. The dark grille is acoustically tuned for the recommended sound balance and helps the speakers blend naturally into living spaces.

Designed to be treasured

Every aspect of the Linton has been created with long-term ownership in mind. From the solid cabinet construction to the carefully damped internal bracing, these speakers are built to last and to reward serious music lovers over time.

Optional matching stands (sold separately) place the speakers at the ideal listening height, provide excellent vibration control and even include practical vinyl storage, reinforcing the Linton’s appeal to analogue enthusiasts.
