Pro-Ject has ensured with the DS3, that the DS2 systems it supersedes are completely compatible with ease with a similar case working but with an all new interior parts base including new Texas Instruments DAC, improvements to the servos and much more making the DS3 the next advancement in Pro-Jects quest for perfection.
The DAC
In any CD player the DAC is the most important part (bar the servo) and with the DS3, Pro-Ject have taken it up a notch with the addition of the Texas Instruments PCM1796 DAC to truly deliver superior sound quality without any compromise, enabling you to enjoy the sound as it as intended when mastered by the artist themselves.
Setting the Standard
DS3 doesn’t just want to be any old CD player in your setup – it sets the standard in the CD player market with the unit passing the True Red Book CD Player (CDDA) standard of excellence, so you can be assured of a quality performance time after time.
Excellent Transport
With the exception of the DAC, a CD player can only be judged on the servo that drives the system and Pro-Ject acknowledge this with the inclusion of their impressive Blue Tiger CD-80 servo (developed in partnership with Stream Unlimited) allows the brain to be uncluttered by less than an optimal performance when you need it most.
Keeping Suspended
The biggest threat to any CD player is simply vibration and the DS3 mitigates this with a four point suspension that ensures vibrations both externally and internally are dampened to such a point where not a single ounce of performance is affected by anything at all which adds to your listening experience.
