About the D300 Series
These budget speakers bring a punch to their cost-effective range, despite the speakers’ compact size. They produce a soundstage that is engaging and expressive bringing in a midrange of high-frequency detail.
With a bass that reaches depths but remaining accurate and controlled, with their advanced bass drivers and P EQ bass reflex port. The Music is driving and energetic, from rock and electronica to classical and jazz, these D300 Series Speakers deliver captivating sound with each beat.
This Series contains two compact stand mount speakers of the D310 and D320. One Floor stander Speaker called the D330 and joined by the D300C Centre Channel speaker. Made for Home Cinema Systems.
Advanced Bass and Midrange Drivers
The Latest generation of Wharfedale’s Kevlar Cones which are bonded to super lightweight surround made of hi tech foamed polyether, this delivers clarity, texture and musical expression that is brought by the advanced drive unit systems within this affordable loudspeaker range.
These cones are driven by a voice coil motor system, which enables low frequency linearity and accuracy which are exceptional for low-cost speakers. They bring a shaped one-piece pole plate that is fitted with a copper cap which reduces inductance and controls the magnetic flux ensuring that low distortion and critical midrange are made.
With an oversized ceramic magnet, this ensures high sensitivity smooths response and absolute control of cone movement over lower bass frequencies.
The Driver that is mounted in the specially designed basket gives a network of ribs to increase rigidity, improving transient impact. A Large open area behind the cone reduces early reflections and allows the internal cabinet absorbent to do its work.
WFR Treble Unit
The Wharfedale WFR (Wide Frequency Response) Tweeter incorporates its own ‘cabinet’ which is a precisely shaped rear chamber with a fibre filling.
Bringing a ceramic magnet, it gives a smoother transition from midrange to high frequencies. A pole piece is vented through to the rear chamber to achieve a low resonate frequency, ensuring excellent linearity and allowing the dome to contribute to the lucid midrange with smooth, pure and richly defined high frequency detail.
Crossover and Cabinet Design
With the output of the drive units, they are carefully combined to be thoroughly researched and developed using Wharfedale’s advanced software and listening iteration system. With each crossover, they are carefully evaluated using a wide range of music, bringing the emphasis of lifelike reproduction of voices and instruments in addition to the dynamics of musical performance.
These acoustically cabinets feature 28 mm thick front baffles, which are a luxury engineering touch to low-cost speakers, they are done to reduce diffraction edge reflections at mid to high frequencies. Critical bracing of the cabinet panels contributes to the eradication of audible resonance and combined to bring rounded cabinet edges. It yields a rigid bass on which it mounts to the drive units, bringing cabinet walls that are lined with an internal fibre chosen for the absorbent qualities across the bandwidth.
P-EQ Bass Reflex Port
The Slot loaded distributed port that was found in the diamond 11 series was used to develop the P-EQ port system that is within the D300 Series, these are critical to the speakers deep and controlled bass performance.
The Low Bass Frequencies that are emitted from the rear surface of the bass driver travel through a downward firing port in the base of the speaker, this curved opening brings a smooth airflow to the sounds. The Pressure is reduced between the high pressure in the port and the low pressure in the room, making sure that any turbulence and audible chuffing that is suffered by the conventional ported systems are aide in bass reflex efficiency.
The Natural recreation of the fundamental notes of bass instruments, matching the realistic sound of the midrange and treble characteristics.
It allows the listener to position D300 Series speakers closer to the rear wall and would be possible with the conventional rear ported speakers. Making sure that the less obtrusive in the room setting.
Collaborate to Innovate.
The Wharfedale is called upon their talents to develop the D300 Series. These specialists produce many of the award winning designs from sister companies such as Mission and Quad. Their Acoustic performance is managed by Peter Comeau.
The talented teams that are led by the specialists that created this range of budget speakers that give more than just its weight, elevates the expectations of what can be achieved at such a lowly price points. Despite the speaker’s compact size, the soundstage that is produced gives an engaging and expressive midrange to high-frequency detail.
The surprising depths of the bass remains lucid and accurate. These speakers bring advanced bass drivers and P-EQ bass reflex port. The Music is driving and energetic or soft and subtle from rock and electronica to classical and jazz.
