As a business we started life in 1972 as The Vac Centre, founded by my father Mick Brinklow. He started selling re-conditioned vacuum cleaners, spare parts and anything else he felt his customers might need. Many local customers may still remember the days when the pavement outside was lined with boxes of vacuum bags and light bulbs. In those days my Dad wouldn't think twice about personally delivering a packet of vacuum bags to a customer three of four miles out of town.

Today the company is called The Electric Shop UK Ltd, with 23 employees and is a thriving multi-million pound company. We supply our products all over the UK.

Our client base is growing too, as many corporate customers such as architects, builders and designers are discovering the benefits of buying from electricshop.

My Dad has now taken on the role of chairman and is still actively involved in the company, currently responsible for the distribution and smooth running of electricshop's 8,000sq-ft warehouse and delivery service.

More recently we have recruited Simon Joseph from jungle.com, part of the Argos Retail Group. Simon joined the Board as Operations Director. One of his initial tasks was to ensure a robust operational system maintained and enhanced our service proposition. With the addition of Simon, electricshop's management team now boasts over 50 years experience within this sector.
