1. Obligation to publish the price and duration of one applicable extended warranty
You must publish/display the price of one applicable extended warranty adjacent to the price of the electrical good itself;
The price and duration of the extended warranty must be shown so that it is clear and legible;
There is not an obligation to state that the purchase of the extended warranty is optional, but putting this on will make it clear to the customer. Plus this will mirror the in-store requirements;
If your site has a page showing a range of electrical goods for which the same extended warranty price and duration applies then this information can be published/displayed in "close proximity" to this range. However, from a practical point of view it is likely to be easier to have the extended warranty cost by each item.
2. Obligation to provide further relevant information
You are required to provide consumers with additional information to help them make an informed decision about their purchase of an extended warranty;
You must provide a hyperlink on your Home Page and every introductory page - directing the customer to the information needed. Domestic & General have built a link for you to use. This will launch a 'pop up' listing the additional information needed. The link that you will need to set up behind the ' other information button' on your site is:
http://www.domgen.com/termsconditions.html
By using the above link, you can be confident that the details the customer views are compliant. Domestic & General will be able to maintain this page to ensure it is always up to date and complies with any changes that may come to light.
If you have any further queries over the requirements that need to be in place for the 6th April 2005, please contact Dealer Support.
